Give to have, teach to learn…

One of the challenges I experience in my search for truth is the very human desires of having and doing, how to occupy time.

A Course in Miracles suggests helpfully, give to have, teach to learn. Behind those simple instructions is the wisdom teaching that, in this experience, it is the “being-ness” which sparks the circumstances desired.

In other words, someone who has would naturally want to give, therefore, by giving you are expressing the state of having, sparking the circumstances for “having” to be part of your experience. Similarly, if one had wisdom, one would naturally teach those who asked. So, by teaching one is expressing the state of being learned.

The trap is thinking. The thinking mind believes in linear time, and “having” can become wanting or needing, and, if you are expressing the wanting of something, you will create the circumstances of continuing to want.

Even intellectually understanding the difference doesn’t make the simple, easy. I often ask for guidance or just a message, and I think these thoughts that came are reassuring.

"Open your heart,
Embrace all,
Laugh,
Love.
Seek the Lord,
Trust.
Desire only to serve.
Let go,
Be light.
Listen"

Simple. Certainly not easy.
