Finding happy

Amelia and Ella are playing with their toys. They bounce like popcorn pops on a small trampoline. They imagine themselves as superhero princesses with wands that make them fly and crowns for far seeing. And that deck of cards on the shelf? Whoosh, up in the air it goes and explodes into a rain of fluttery sheets!

They laugh till their middle muscles are sore. After a few minutes, they look around the play room for something else to do, but nothing seems fun anymore.

Out they run, yelling “Busha, we’re bored, come play with us!”

Finding Happy a children's story

“I love playing,” Busha laughs, “but, I don’t want to be the toy you pick up when you’re bored!”

“I don’t like being bored, I want to feel happy!” Ella pouts.

“Ahh, there’s the problem!” Busha explains. “You have a feeling you don’t want. You know what I do when I have a feeling I don’t like? I breathe a smile, right into my heart – come on, let’s do it together.”

Not happily, but because they couldn’t think of a reason not too, Amelia and Ella join Busha. “Breathe in a smile, make it brighter as you breathe out, in a smile, out it’s brighter, in, out, in, out…” and in a few minutes, they all feel, well, smiley!

“Hey, I found my happy again!” Amelia announces. “Let’s go outside and play on the swings, Ella!” With giggles and a big hug for Busha, they’re off on a new adventure.

Busha, smiling, breathes in with gratitude, and out, with love.
